Joint Institute of the University of Colorado Boulder and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory

In its role as integrator, RASEI assembles and packages the skills, capabilities, and programs represented in the partner institutions to create a set of impact areas with defined products that are important to evolving industries. Interesting find: University of Colorado Boulder physics professor awarded Presidential Early Career Award by President Obama.

Alysia Marino, a physics professor at the University of Colorado Boulder, was one of 13 Department of Energy researchers who was given this award. She received her award for her study of neutrino properties, which could be used to develop diagnostic tools. The award is given to young scientists and engineers for their research to help the nation achieve energy independence and enhance national security. Marino receives a $750,000, five year grant along with the award. Full Story
