The George Washington Solar Institute provides a facility for students to connect teaching and research through sponsored projects and research facilities.

George Washington places a large research focus on the future repercussions of renewable energy technology. This research includes investigating key concerns such as:
- China’s Solar Policy: Subsidies, Manufacturing Overcapacity & Opportunities
- Endangered Species Act in connection with utility scale solar power facilities
- Department of Defense actions to reduce fossil fuels
- Financing large scale solar energy development with a new tax structure

Our Favorite Find: George Washington University Solar Institute Symposium
The George Washington University Solar Institute Third Annual Symposium of 2011, featured Minh Le, Chief Engineer of DOE's Solar Energy Technologies Program, who discussed the President's clean energy challenge and the Department's SunShot Initiative, which aims to reduce solar costs to one dollar per watt by the year 2020.
