This position is for a consultant in the Risk Management, Compliance and Security (RMCS) service group within NCI’s Energy Practice. The position will be part of a team that assists leading energy-related organizations (including utilities, energy companies, and government organizations) develop programs to reduce both reliability and compliance risk, ensure compliance with mandatory regulations, and ensure cyber and physical security.
The RMCS consultant will be a key team member for public and private sector projects and will conduct detailed fact finding, research, and analysis on compliance and security-related activities; assist with the development of internal controls targeted to reduce client risk, perform compliance gap assessments; conduct physical security assessments, data collection and spreadsheet creation and management; prepare reports, presentations and other documents for clients.
Physical security assessments include reviewing and assessing physical security systems and their ability to detect, delay, and provide response to applicable threats. Assess the protection of critical assets at a level commensurate with the criticality of the missions. The duties include identifying all aspects of emergency related issues and providing recommendations to mitigate or eliminate identified vulnerabilities with a specific focus on: Protection Planning and Execution, Access/Circulation Control, Detection/Assessment, Reaction/Response and Site Security Adjustments.
The Risk Management, Compliance and Security consultant Specific capabilities and/or activities may include:
Conducting risk assessments for all types of critical infrastructures – that is, the experience and qualifications to evaluate threats and vulnerabilities;
Reviewing and developing client internal security controls and assessing inherent risks;
Reviewing physical security plans, and/or in their development or enhancement;
Researching, developing, and applying best practices in risk management, compliance program development and physical security; and
Communicating solutions and new strategies to clients through reports and presentations
Superb writing skills – be able to write reports; write bids to RFPs; develop signature ready written products.
Self-starter who is a team player – who will work to ensure the core values of respect and collaboration are achieved;
Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Science and Engineering or related discipline(s);
Experience developing and implementing risk management, compliance, or physical security programs – 3-5 years desired;
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
ASIS CPP, PSP, or other;
Highly developed organizational and management skills;
Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities without diminished effectiveness; and
Ability to travel and to work overtime hours as needed.

Regularly uses close visual acuity and operates computer equipment to prepare and analyze and transmit data
