The DR / Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) Product & Operations Manager is responsible for owning the current Demand Response products for CLEAResult across North America and for supporting the emerging Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) strategy & product build out.

The role includes owning CLEAResult’s existing DR product and program launch strategy as well as the build out of new offers. In the operations component of the role, the manager will support start-up of DERs programs in conjunction with the regions (CPGs). The DERs product & operations manager will develop products by conducting market research; generating product requirements; determining specifications, production timetables, pricing, and in collaboration with marketing, service line and sales leaders. This person will support DR / DERs program launches leading tech partner contracting and management, CLEAResult’s in-house IT solution, integrations and program design developments. In addition, they will manage the existing portfolio of DR products ensuring they maintain strong product-market fit through periodic reviews and update schedules. This product manager will be familiar with effective energy-related program designs, critical aspects of successful delivery, technical management of software solutions and current and prospective market partners. The successful candidate thrives on cross functional collaboration, actively listening to client (internal and external) needs, designing relevant solutions, competition and working to realize CLEAResult’s vision of a rapidly evolving DR/DERs landscape.

This position will be based in Portland, OR, Chicago, IL or Atlanta, GA. Other possible locations which would be considered include Denver, Boston or Austin, TX.
Job Description


Product Management & Development

Determines market and specific client’s needs and desires by collaborating with business development and program teams; specifies research needed to obtain additional market insights.
Assesses market competition by comparing the company’s products to competitors’ products.
Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements
Brings new products to market in support of CLEAResult priorities; by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development needs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with marketing, engineering, IT and other functions.
Develops go-to-market plans that include introduction and promotion of new products by developing time-integrated plans with marketing, sales and regional teams.
Regularly appraises current products and their positioning; establishes/executes update schedules integrating releases with marketing, sales and regional teams.
Leads training of business development and regional teams on Residential DR products/product road map, including developing related materials and training tools.
Subject Matter Expertise (DR / DERs)

Provides proposal support for new business opportunities by collaborating with sales, functional leads and SMEs.
Supports new programs and pilots from the start-up phase to maturity with collaborative oversight and training; provide ongoing program support as necessary throughout program lifecycles.
Acts as lead for CLEAResult’s demand response IT system offering in managing standard solution, guiding enhancement priorities, and supporting proposal estimations.
Ensure DR / DERs programs support the company’s overall strategy and goals
Partner & Integration Management

Builds and owns relationships with industry partners including demand response and DERs technology partners to ensure quality delivery in programs, co-pursue new business opportunities and evolve program offerings
Supports regions in build out of Scope of Work agreement for specific programs
Facilitates regular and constructive communication with partners
Monitors market and identifies future potential partners
Collaborates with partners to jointly drive mutually beneficial business development activity
Serves as a resource about partner capabilities and relationships to program teams
Additional Job Description


Bachelor’s Degree in product management, engineering, business, marketing or related discipline; MBA preferred
5 plus years of product management experience
Strong technical aptitude – previous experience with DERMS systems and Salesforce software preferred
Experience managing partner relationships and negotiating
Strong communication & writing skills
Must have worked in the energy efficiency industry
A self-starter with a consultant’s mindset
Influencing skills necessary to be successful in a matrixed organization
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
