The Manager of Renewables Performance Analytics is responsible for supporting and collaborating with Performance Engineering, shared service organizations, asset management, and leadership throughout the Renewable Energy business to maximize insights regarding performance and revenue from large quantities of data obtained from the operation of our wind and solar energy assets. The Manager must maintain functional, technical, and business knowledge tied to key databases used for compliance, performance reporting, and providing insights to operational leadership.

This Analytics organization is responsible for data stewardship and maintaining data integrity to support Renewables Operations. The Manager of Performance Analytics will build and lead a team of data analysts and data scientists who will support Renewables Operations by managing the acquisition of asset performance data, ensure its accuracy, develop and maintain routine and ad-hoc reports for compliance and business decision purposes, and convey those reports and data broadly within the business. The Manager will work with data engineers on data quality assessment, data cleansing and data analytics. He/she must partner with the broader Duke IT organization to shape statements of work for data science opportunities and seek data science opportunities to create customer value. The Analytics organization will engage shared resources in order to manage enhancements to the data warehouse in order to develop, deploy and apply predictive and prescriptive analytics in order to maximize insights.

Responsibilities
Lead and inspire a small team that provides world-class business insights to Renewables Operations and other functional management
Develop team members’ capabilities to achieve world-class results and maximize their visibility within the Duke Energy leadership system and guidelines, to include mentoring co-ops and interns
Manage aspects of data analysis and reporting, data science, and program management
Ensure that reporting for compliance and other business purposes occurs as required on a daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc basis
Ensure metrics reporting is accurate and analysis aligns with business unit goals and objectives.
Identify, document, and understand business requirements and translate into reporting solutions to support Renewables Operations as well as continuous improvement initiatives
Administrate existing business intelligence and reporting tools as well as train end-users on reporting tools
Maintain detailed business and technical knowledge of all business applications used by Renewables Operations.
Work closely with the engineering team to acquire data and move it into the Information Management Architecture (IMA) to support business needs
Design, implement and document quality control measures for data collection, data mapping, and data management as well as test and approve system changes/enhancements that will impact data quality and reporting
Manage multiple ongoing programs with competing deadlines
Basic/Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business related or technical field with relevant experience in data or financial modeling, report coding and/or dashboard development
Ability to learn and comprehend new and advanced technologies.
High level analytical skills, troubleshooting, and demonstrated high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Demonstrated effective oral/written communication, organizational, presentation, facilitation and planning skills
Demonstrates individual leadership skills including effective, goal-oriented leadership of a program or project in the information technology or information management space
Desired Qualifications
Relevant experience in wind and/or solar energy operations, design, or performance management
Strong knowledge and understanding of OSI Soft PI
Demonstrated working knowledge of Renewables technology, processes and procedures
Familiarity with data reporting and visualization software such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or SSRS
Advanced degree in business administration, statistics, or computer science or relevant certification from an accredited institution
Demonstrated familiarity with statistical methods including trend analysis, forecasting, modeling, and the development and application of descriptive, applied, and predictive analytics on industrial datasets
Familiarity with data warehouse structure and administration
SQL Server and Coding knowledge
Familiarity or demonstrated expertise in the use of one or more analytic software tools or languages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, Python)
