Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and write high quality, technical content on a variety of topics related to the solar industry
  • Conduct and manage surveys to gather data on the solar industry
  • Track SolSmart program metrics and effectively present results
  • Develop data-driven economic models for simulating solar jobs projections and other topics
  • Stay well informed on industry news and research
  • Clean, organize, and manage The Solar Foundation’s datasets
  • Work both independently and in a team to manage project deliverables and meet deadlines
  • Develop new research ideas and write proposals for funding
  • Present research findings to both internal and external audiences
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of a small and dynamic national nonprofit organization

Skills and Experience:

  • A graduate degree in economics, public policy, political science, environmental studies, or other related or technical field with 2+ years of experience in a research-focused position, preferably in the solar industry or renewable energy OR related undergraduate degree and 5+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing data-driven models
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity
  • Superb technical writing skills
  • Proven ability to translate technical content into compelling written and oral presentations
  • Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills
  • Advanced capabilities in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and alternate between projects
  • Enthusiasm for The Solar Foundation’s mission and strong passion for solar and renewable energy
  • Preferred: Experience in the solar industry

Compensation:

The salary for this position is commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The Solar Foundation provides its staff with a competitive benefits package including enrollment in a 401(k) retirement plan with a capped employer match, health insurance, paid time off, transportation stipend, professional development funds, etc. This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC. All employment at The Solar Foundation is at-will.
