Solar Workforce Initiatives Coordinator 25 views


The GRID Alternatives Mid-Atlantic affiliate is looking for a Workforce Initiatives Coordinator to lead regional workforce development programming and support the implementation of our flagship job training program, Solar Works DC (SWDC). The Workforce Initiatives Coordinator will work with the Workforce Development and Volunteerism Manager to implement job training programming and relevant activities for our local Solar Futures, Troops to Solar, Solar Spring Break, and Women in Solar initiatives. The Workforce Initiatives Coordinator will also work closely with the Workforce Training Supervisors and other GRID Teams to implement and enhance the SWDC job training program; and coordinate with external partners, employers, and job training organizations to support and grow programs throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

Develop, coordinate, implement, and track workforce initiative goals, curriculums, partnerships participants, and materials
Collaborate with the Workforce Development and Volunteerism Manager to identify and pursue programmatic partnerships and opportunities with job training organizations, high schools, colleges, and universities
Act as a liaison between the Development and Construction teams so that goals of any workforce programming involving solar installations are successfully met
Coordinate and strengthen the development of local initiatives that could include GRID’s Solar Futures, Troops to Solar, Solar Spring Break, and Women in Solar programs
Assist with the coordination of the Workforce, Construction, and Outreach teams to communicate and execute program schedules
Collaborate and coordinate with solar industry employers and job training participants to connect available employment opportunities in the solar industry including planning job fairs, career days, and employer site visits and interviews
Maintain our Salesforce database/tracking system and Resume Bank

Position Requirements:

Excellent teaching, coaching, training, mentoring and/or facilitation experience
Record of success in leading multiple programs and/or initiatives
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to communicate with and impact diverse groups of job trainees, employers, and co-workers
Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Gmail, GoogleDoc, database management)
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, comfortable driving a 15-passenger van
Preferred Qualifications:

Interest in environmental justice, sustainability, and/or serving disadvantaged communities
Experience in solar, construction, or related industries
Familiarity with
Ability to communicate in Spanish
Office Location/Travel:

This is a Washington, DC based position with local travel to trainings, events and installations. Availability to work nights and weekends maybe required. All applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
