Apex is seeking a Government and Regulatory Affairs Manager, Eastern region, to help manage our government and regulatory affairs in North Carolina, Virginia, New York, and West Virginia. Additional states may be added in the future. Our government and regulatory affairs managers anticipate and identify emerging issues and trends affecting the energy industry. They are also responsible for communicating that information to our team so we can mobilize resources for effective response and action. Our government and regulatory affairs managers are on the front lines, helping us build and support public policy in key states to advance operational priorities on critical issues affecting Apex Clean Energy.
In this role, you will be working on building and leading state government affairs strategies, following relevant policy developments, engaging in policy and political discussions, managing contract lobbyists, tracking and engaging with state Public Utility Commissions on meaningful dockets, and representing Apex in various regional organizations and/or coalitions, including NCSEA, NCCEBA, Southeast Wind Coalition, ACENY, MAREC, and RENEW.
Our ideal candidate will come into this role with a genuine interest in renewable energy, at least four years of related and relevant experience, and a demonstrated ability to lead and manage relationships with stakeholders, partners, consultants, lobbyists, coalition members, and the public. The ideal candidate will have a consistent track record of exemplary teamwork and an appreciation for working on a dynamic and diverse team. They should be well versed in actively planning and organizing state governmental strategies and tactics to craft policymaking opportunities and to mitigate probable legislative threats. They will eagerly seize the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues and thrive in an environment that requires flexibility and adaptation to constant change, shifting demands, and moving timelines.
