Energy-Storage Battery Scientist 5 views


Seeo is seeking an experienced Battery Scientist with cathode active material synthesis or analysis expertise who has relevant education and work background to support the team in a lab environment. The goal of this ongoing work is to develop the next generation of materials for Seeo’s lithium ion cells.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop testing methods for characterizing and improving battery cell materials including electrochemical testing and analysis procedures
  • Analysis of failure mechanisms in cathode active materials and develop strategies for overcoming them
  • Conducting hands-on technical work for a variety of routine tasks including the preparation and testing of materials, and initiating cell testing
  • Ownership of R&D projects, including documentation of processes and results
  • In collaboration with the process engineering and materials development teams, troubleshoot for improved performance, product conformance, and design for manufacturability
  • Use Seeo’s document and change control system to document and properly archive standard operating procedures, work instructions, technical specifications
  • Contribution to process development, cell design, and packaging
  • Handling parts and building cells
  • Operating equipment such as glove box, coater, fume hoods, and work in the dry room
  • Ownership of standard operating procedures, product, equipment, materials and parts, and 5S

This position will require: 

  • Ph.D. in electrochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering or related field required with significant expertise in the area of cathode active materials
  • Direct experience in design and characterization of battery cells
  • Commitment to developing and supporting a cohesive team as well as an effective and healthy work environment

Desired Experience & Skills: 

  • Work experience in battery manufacturing or fuel cells industries an advantage
