Lockheed Martin Energy Storage is commercializing a new class of flow battery technology for low-cost, grid-scale energy storage. We are seeking an Associate Research Scientist to assist with chemical and battery testing in the development of novel flow battery electrolytes that enable low system cost and high performance. The successful candidate with have training in a field of chemistry with extensive laboratory research experience. Lab experience in the areas of synthetic chemistry, electrochemistry, and/or analytical chemistry is preferred. A working knowledge of flow battery technology is encouraged. The individual will work closely with a team of chemists and chemical engineers, receiving close instruction and mentorship from senior researchers and technical leads, and reporting to the group chemistry manager. The individual must be flexible, able to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry or related discipline from an accredited college.

- Research experience in synthetic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and/or electrochemistry
- Experience in flow battery or fuel cell testing and/or materials development
- Working knowledge of flow batteries and/or fuel cells
