Summer Intern 4 views


We are seeking an undergraduate technologist student that is interested in a year-round internship. The Photovoltaics & Materials Technology department will call on you to help conduct research related to renewable energy. You should enjoy working in both a laboratory and outdoors performing field work. In this role, you will work with a high performing and cohesive team of renewable energy experts.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Build photovoltaic (PV) and data monitoring systems
  • Run PV test equipment
  • Perform equipment calibrations
  • Create or review drawings
  • Program in a variety of software languages
  • Analyze large data sets


Qualifications We Require

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • U.S. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited associate or bachelor degree program in technology or engineering
  • Experience with hand tools


Qualifications We Desire


  • Knowledge of or eagerness to learn renewable energy concepts
  • Experience with electronic test equipment, electronic assembly, and wiring
  • Knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD)
  • Computer programming skills: Python, LabVIEW, MatLAB, Excel Macros, or C
  • Interest in machine tool operations
  • Interest in pursuing a career in technology as demonstrated by academic major and/or coursework
