Job Description

As a continuous improvement engineer, the candidate will be responsible to bring a measurable improvement to multiple departmental benchmark targets, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Candidate must be a self-motivated individual willing to take the initiative to continuously improve operations. He/she must possess the ability to deal with complex problems and be willing to work flexible hours/shift as projects require.

Job Responsibilities

Lead continuous improvement projects to provide technical solutions to technical problems
Identify, scope, and justify automation and digital-enablement opportunities.
Lead structured problem solving (PDCA, DMAIC, A3, 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) to eliminate waste and drive root-cause resolution.
Maintain communication with partners outside of the work group including safety, quality, production, and maintenance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution. Providing technical direction to and oversight of strategic suppliers
Maintain and meet project budgets/forecasts and drive cost reduction initiatives.
Develop CI roadmaps and tracking to ensure prioritization, benefit validation, and long-term sustainment
Ensure improvements are standardized, replicated across similar processes, and reflected in PFMEAs, control plans, and standardized work
Participate in incident investigations and corrective/preventive actions
Support KPI governance (SPQRCE metrics, OEE, scrap, downtime) and ensure accurate data visibility for decision-making
Drive 6S, visual controls, and workplace organization improvements
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in manufacturing engineering.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Experience with processing equipment, throughput, and comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes, enabling effective design and production.
In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies, fostering operational efficiency and waste reduction.
A strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time, with ability to meet project timelines
High level of analytical ability where problems are complex
Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required
Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with data analysis and statistical process control (SPC), enabling informed decision-making and process optimization.
Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, demonstrating the ability to thrive in fast-paced settings. Experience with reliability and maintainability of processing equipment, standalone availability, and throughput.
Battery manufacturing experience
