Role summary:
This person will report directly to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager and be based out of a manufacturing facility located in Chattanooga, TN. In the role of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist, you will be joining a world-class Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team that is delivering innovative solutions to tough problems.
EHS personnel develop procedures and design systems to protect people from illness and injury, and property from damage. They combine knowledge of the environment, health, and safety to make sure that chemicals, machinery, policies, and procedures will not cause harm to people or damage property.
The candidate selected for this role is responsible for assisting the EHS Manager in testing the workplace for mechanical hazards, maintaining all required safety records and documentation, and continuously researching and improving operations to keep up with the business needs of our organization.
Work is performed primarily in the plant on the production floor and an office setting. Travel to other plants is required. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate and may be noisy at times. PPE requirements are in place at all facilities.

Responsibilities include:
Assist with testing for environmental hazards and potential exposures to materials, noise, or air quality.
Support the Company’s general industry and construction safety programs.
Assist in maintaining all required health and safety documentation for compliance with Company policies, as well as State and Federal regulations.
Recommend corrective measures to mitigate potential risks to team member health and equipment damage.
Review team member safety programs and recommend improvements.
Assist in investigating incidents and injuries to determine root cause and make suggestions on how they can be prevented in the future.
Auditing facilities regularly to look for potential hazards.
Training team members to perform processes and operate equipment safely.
Documenting various activities such as training, audits, and investigations.
Other duties as assigned

You are:
A High School Graduate (equivalent High School diploma will be considered)
Experienced with occupational safety management; minimum of two (2) years experience in occupational safety is required (equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be considered)
First aid/AED/CPR certified
Computer literate; specifically proficient with Microsoft 365 Suite
A good communicator, written and oral, for reporting and presenting information
A problem analyzer with critical thinking skills who can manage complex information
Intellectually curious and resilient
Committed to maintaining and improving a successful safety management system
A highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative to perform duties
Well-organized and invested in the details
Skilled with metrics reporting
Consultative, collaborative, and engaging, able to influence senior leaders
Comfortable working and thinking independently while successfully working with remote teams
Able to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization
