Job Summary And Description

The successful candidate will join the Energy Systems and Climate Analysis Group at EPRI (http://esca.epri.com), a team of leading climate economists and energy-economic modelers. You will source and prepare datasets, build and extend energy-economic models, and conduct economic analyses to address research questions around economy-wide decarbonization in the U.S. and other countries. You will work with colleagues to prepare slide decks, briefings, and peer reviewed articles, and present research findings to a wide variety of audiences.

The ESCA team offers the opportunity to work with established experts in a stimulating and innovative environment to tackle key research questions in collaboration with electric companies and Government partners. You will have autonomy in project work while collaborating with a broader team, with input over your hours and schedule in a flexible work environment. You can choose to work remote, in one of EPRI’s offices, or a mix of the two.

The Ideal Candidate Would Have

An advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in electrical engineering, operations research, energy resources, economics, computer science, systems engineering or related education
Experience in building an energy sector optimization or simulation model to answer economic questions
Experience conducting economic analyses applying energy models to answer market, policy, and/or technology research questions
Experience with at least one high-level modeling system for mathematical programming, optimization, and economics, such as GAMS, AMPL, Matlab, R, Python, or similar educational experience
Excellent research and writing skills; strong oral communications skills; ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
A positive attitude, comfortable working both collaboratively and independently
Experience and interest in developing and contributing to cutting-edge research and communicating transfer of knowledge
Experience with or interest in project budgeting, scheduling, creating written deliverables.

Some travel (10-15%) is expected to support conferences, meetings, and company visits.

The salary range for this position is $96,900 USD to $109,200 USD annually.

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).
