The Catalyst Lab Technologist will be performing lab experiments on catalyst synthesis, optimization, testing and characterization. Your hands-on experience will help us improve catalyst performance and increase our testing throughput, accelerating discovery of novel catalysts and optimizing materials for large-scale use. Reporting to the Senior Catalyst Scientist, this position plays a critical role in ensuring timely completion of catalyst development activities. This position is ideal for candidates who are familiar with catalyst synthesis and evaluating catalyst activities. What You’ll Be Doing
Synthesis and characterization of inorganic materials, catalyst, catalyst formulation
Packing quartz tube reactors, installing reactors into test stations and setting up experiments
Setup, construct, operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, including gas chromatographs, furnaces, catalyst test stations, rotovaps, and other pilot-scale equipment
Interpret data from catalyst tests and present data in the form of graphs or tables to R&D Project Managers
Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment daily
Work collaboratively with team members to schedule experiments and equipment usage
Think critically and communicate proactively to address issues that come up in the lab
Record notes and document results of material experiments
Requirements
Education and Qualifications:
1+ years of experience working as a Lab Technician
Experience installing, leak-checking and troubleshooting compression fittings
Experience building, leak-checking and maintaining highly pressurized gas systems preferred
Experience with quartz tube reactors and furnaces preferred
Excellent verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience
Bachelor’s degree (BS) in chemical engineering, chemistry, or materials science with laboratory experience
Ability to work in fast-paced environment
Experience handling equipment employed for catalyst synthesis and catalyst evaluation preferred
