Summary
The Integrated Software Design Engineer works within the Shoals Integration Engineering function to enable Shoals EBOS design rules inside third party solar software design tools. The Integrated Software Design Engineer will have a deep understanding of Shoals EBOS design practices in utility-scale and C&I solar installations. This role will engage with multiple solar field design tool partners to integrate Shoals EBOS design rules within those tools to more efficiently automate the design process. The Integrated Software Design Engineer will report to the Vice President, Product and Engineering and work under the direction of the Director, Integration Engineering.
Responsibilities
Capability of utility-scale and C&I EBOS design using AutoCAD
Develop and maintain proficiency in various solar field design software tools (ex. PVComplete, PVFARM, Helioscope, etc.)
Document Shoals EBOS design rules in a flow chart format and keep updated
Coordinate and collaborate with third party solar field design tool companies to integrate Shoals design rules into their software
Recommend improvements to Shoals design rules
Provide training alongside Application Engineering in using Shoals design rules in third party solar field design software tools
Analyze and recommend design automation within Shoals Integration Engineering department that would include AutoCAD or other software tools
Communicate with Product Line Management (PLM) regarding customer requests related to Shoals products
Collaborate with PLM, Integration Engineering, Product Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain on C&I specific design rules that leverage standard product
Qualifications
B.S. degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Software Engineering, Masters preferred
Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software
Experience using one or more aforementioned solar industry design software tools for utility-scale or C&I project
Minimum 3 years’ experience in solar industry or a degree in Renewable Energy discipline
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
