Purpose:

BayWa r.e. Solar Projects, LLC is seeking a Interconnection Manager to join our team.

This role is responsible for the following:
Lead the interconnection process of utility scale solar and energy storage projects.
Perform load flow, dynamic and reactive analysis based on the local energy grid requirements.
Create and support TARA, PSLF, PSS_E and PSCAD models to represent a project during the interconnection process and perform Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance and technical analysis during the commissioning phase.
Provide due diligence engineering review.
Support origination and project development teams from site selection through operation.
Determine the optimum strategy for interconnecting the project to the electric grid based on system impact assessments and market delivery options.
Use analytical tools and methods to determine optimum plan for interconnection.
Leverage knowledge of tariffs, transmission agreements, and transmission policies to evaluate and recommend project strategies and opportunities.
Assesses transmission grid capacity in a region by reviewing and verifying technical studies performed by transmission providers and communicate and negotiate with regional transmission providers to develop the most efficient and cost-effective plan for integrating the project into the electric power grid.
Coordinate the development of necessary modeling data with multi-disciplinary team for generation of interconnection technical studies for submission to utilities companies.
Participate in technical and policy based committees to advocate for decisions which are favorable for renewable energy projects.
Perform transmission planning engineering studies and assist with developing electric transmission solutions.
Perform all computer modeling necessary to conduct power flow and stability studies in support of Business Development opportunities and evaluation.
Run due diligence on interconnection process for late stage projects to adequately estimate timing and cost impacts, and provide guidance to origination, development engineering, and finance departments.

Your areas of knowledge and expertise:
The ideal candidate demonstrates:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
4 years of experience as an Engineer working with energy transmission and electric power distribution systems.
The 4 years of experience must have included performing engineering review and analysis of electric generation, transmission and distribution utility projects, and related simulation modeling and NERC compliance analysis.
Up to 20% domestic travel required.
