Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, the Legal Counsel will be a key member of the North America Legal Team and will provide legal support for the company’s established and growing utility-scale, solar energy and energy storage pipeline in the U.S. and Canada. The Legal Counsel’s role will be a transactional attorney who will support a wide range of contracts, negotiations, and advisory work, including assisting on project finance, acquisitions and divestitures, real estate and land use and permitting activities, offtake agreements, construction contracts and subcontracting and supply chain matters. The ideal candidate will be a strong technical attorney and a pragmatic businessperson.
This will be a collaborative cross-functional scope that is executed through partnerships with members of the Project Finance, Procurement, Origination and Structuring and Project Development Team.
Responsibilities
Executing on renewable energy transactions and other energy project transactions in coordination with legal department leadership and other teams in the company.
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of renewable energy agreements (including, but not limited to, renewables projects related agreements, site control documentation, power purchase agreements and engineering, procurement and construction contracts).
Requirements
U.S.-credentialed law degree from a top-tier ABA accredited law school.
Minimum of 2 years of substantial experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating renewable energy agreements within a top-tier law firm and/or corporate legal department.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
Travel required 0 – 15%.
