Scope of Position

The Project Development Intern will report to the Senior Project Developer and work collaboratively across the organization to support Project Development activities and overall project strategy. The Project Development Intern is very detail-oriented and eager to learn about the solar and storage development process. This includes risk management through costing exercises, schedule management, financial modeling, site feasibility analysis, interconnection strategy, state and federal incentives, financing, and contract execution. They will utilize systems such as Salesforce, SharePoint, ClickUp, and Smartsheet. Responsibilities
80% – Project Development
Assist the Senior Project Developer with the mid to late stages of solar and storage project development, from project mandate to internal construction handoff. These responsibilities include:
Support the overall development of projects from customer award to NTP
Coordinate with internal subject matter experts and functional groups to identify and schedule activities needed to achieve key milestones
Provide external customers and stakeholders with development expertise and transparency to facilitate a consultative sales process
Support projects through key milestones by assisting with drafting clear recommendations backed by analysis of risk, economics, and project competitiveness
20% – Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education/Experience
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, economics, environmental policy, renewable energy, or related fields (priority to rising juniors and seniors)
Database experience (Salesforce preferred) and willing to learn others

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Available to work in our NYC headquarters (hybrid in-office environment) for the entirety of the internship (20-40 hours per week, 8-10 weeks with possibility for extension)
Ability to prioritize and to work under pressure while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
Motivated self-starter who can complete tasks and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision
Knowledge or coursework on environmental studies, energy economics, finance, sustainability, or related STEM
Foundational knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel
Ability to interact with and build relationships with people from different departments and levels of seniority
Passionate about renewable energy and innovative solutions towards building a net-zero future
Physical Requirements
Remaining in a seated or standing position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
Working Conditions
Approximately 90% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe etc.), telephones, and general office equipment. 10% of the time is spent traveling to conferences or meetings or field traveling to project sites and vendor facilities to support the activities of PowerFlex.
