What You Can Expect

As our Controls Engineering, Intern , you will gain hands-on experience supporting the development and validation of power plant control (PPC) systems. You will assist in developing the PSCAD model for the BroadView PPC Controller, create models suitable for use in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulators, and develop test cases to evaluate controller performance. Additionally, you will conduct simulation testing and validation of control functions to ensure system reliability and alignment with project requirements. This internship provides valuable exposure to advanced power system modeling, control logic testing, and real-world applications in renewable energy integration.

This internship opportunity is based in Houston, TX, and spans three months, from June 1, 2026 to August 21, 2026. You will report to the Controls Engineering Director.

What You’ll Bring

You are Currently pursuing a Master’s of Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field with relevant courses in Power System Engineering
You have knowledge of how to use PSCAD for power system models
You have Experience with programming languages such as CodeSys, MATLAB, Simulink, or Python
You have a strong analytical and problem-solving skills
You have excellent communication skills
You have the Ability to take initiative and ownership of tasks

Additional Details

The intern should be available to work 20–30 hours per week, with two in-office days per week for the part-time (20-hour) schedule
Interns must be enrolled students in good standing at the commencement of the intern semester
Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

Compensation

Hourly Range: $28.50 – 35.50 USD hourly

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
