About the job
The Role

Reporting to the VP, Market Development, the East Market Lead owns MEI’s growth strategy across the East Markets—driving regional policy, programmatic work, and M&A origination and structuring. The role identifies, incubates, and grows partnerships with local and regional developers and EPC firms looking to partner with IPPs like MEI to finance, own, and operate clean energy infrastructure.

Working closely with Commercial Analysis, M&A, Legal, and Development, the East Market Lead leads proposals, advances negotiations, structures project revenue and offtake, and shepherds projects from origination through diligence, development, and operation.

Ideal for an entrepreneurial dealmaker with deep DG renewables experience, strong deal structuring and underwriting skills, and a talent for building lasting partnerships.

Responsibilities

Strategically Grow MEI’s Presence

Cultivate new partner relationships and source clean energy projects for acquisition across onsite/offsite solar and energy storage.
Serve as MEI’s on-the-ground leader and ambassador for the US East—attending conferences, speaking on panels, and representing the company at regional and local engagements.

Establish and Execute MEI’s Commercial Market Direction

Identify emerging and mature market opportunities to deliver clean energy solutions to MEI’s growing network of developer and EPC partners in addition to internal Enterprise solutions.
Build deep offtake and revenue expertise across programs, driving commercial direction for M&A through rigorous analysis.
Act as MEI’s in-market expert on policy, programs, and regulations—supporting the broader team and leading strategic policy and programmatic initiatives.

Drive MEI Growth

Negotiate commercial terms to secure exclusivity and advance projects toward diligence, development, and construction.
Partner with M&A and Legal to close originated deals.
Partner with Commercial Analysis to ensure proper project underwriting informed by market knowledge of each asset.
