Job Description:
HSE Professional role provides safety program guidance and oversight to Vestas operations at a specific location or geographical region. Coordinate with regional operations management to influence safety performance.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates and implements the QSE site specific plans for start-up and existing Service locations in conjunction with line management. Monitors progress on completion of the site specific plan.
Supports site management and provides professional coaching and review of incident investigations and corrective actions through 5 Why and TapRoot incident investigation methods.
Oversees the management of work-related injuries at regional Vestas locations
Represents QSE with Service Operations at customer meetings
Interacts externally with authorities as necessary
Responsible for environmental support to regional Vestas locations.
Influence the adoption of QSE programs to reduce injuries across the Vestas locations, with a high focus on soft tissue injury prevention.
Build organization capability by providing QSE training and development of QSE coordinators to ensure each site within the sub-region has the appropriate technical and functional competencies.
Participate in the start-up/transition activities of new or expanding Vestas locations.
Coordinate the investigation process of incidents and accidents to determine root causes and prepares/directs corrective and preventive action plans.
Support line management with the Incident Management System (IMS) to ensure timely investigation and closure of all applicable incidents
Maintains current knowledge of QSE industry best practices and technological developments and equipment to remain up-to-date on related systems, devices and techniques designed to eliminate or minimize associated risks. Keeps current on regulatory requirements pertaining to QSE for assigned region.
Position can potentially be based anywhere in the assigned geographical region
High travel position – up to 60%
Requirements:
Bachelors’ degree in Environmental Management, Industrial Health & Safety or related equivalent is desirable
Minimum 3 years’ work experience in general industry, industrial and construction environmental, or health & safety.
Experience in cultural change and behavior-based safety programs, as well as QSE programs and policies across multiple jurisdictions preferred
Direct experience with wind industry operations highly desirable
Ability to interact with senior leadership, other departments, and with vendors and customers
Experience in applying international EHS standards (ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001) across business units and geographies.
Experience with TapRoot or other root cause analysis process.
Experience with ergonomics, behavioral safety and a safety culture program is desired.
Understanding of mechanical, electric and hydraulic systems
Experience with cranes, lifting and rigging, safety management systems, control of hazardous energy, confined space requirements, work at heights and soft tissue injury prevention preferred
Should be authorized to work in the U.S. and Canada without company sponsorship
Computer skills necessary include Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and basic skills in SAP
Should be proficient working remotely with little to no supervision
Ability to audit, monitor global and local standards, have basic knowledge of manufacturing and system function
Competencies:
Able to effectively influence a cross-functional team
