Ambri, an energy startup commercializing innovative battery technology developed at MIT, is seeking a Cell Analysis Engineer I, to help drive the post-mortem cell analysis and material characterization of liquid metal battery cells and components. This position reports to the Senior Principal Scientist and will work alongside leading battery scientists and engineers. Responsibilities include:
Performing materials characterization and postmortem analysis on liquid metal batteries.
Maintaining, analyzing perdormance data and correlation with observed cell features.
Determining failure modes and mechanisms that limit cell performance.
Summarizing observations and reporting to the greater team.
Evaluating battery components after operation and providing design feedback.
Interacting with other teams to ensure smooth system-wide integration
The engineer will play an integral role on a great team that seeks to commercialize the liquid metal battery technology which will enable an efficient, stable and secure electricity grid, paving the way for a high penetration of renewable energy.
BS degree in a relevant field of the physical sciences or engineering, such as applied physics, materials science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering
Demonstrable success on technical projects
Recognized by collegues as a ‘go-to’ person to solve challenging issues
Capable of working both independently and as part of a fast moving team
Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Strong organizational and communication skills
Knowledge of high temperature electrochemical systems and general characterization techniques is a plus
