The Availability Engineer, Operations Engineering provides technical support to a large operating fleet of renewable energy projects including wind, solar, and battery storage facilities.


  • Provide first line technical support to a group of wind farms
  • Review performance analysis reports, identify problems, and develop solutions
  • Evaluate damage to major turbine components (blades, gearboxes, bearings, generators, etc.), categorize the severity, and provide run/don’t run dispositions
  • Assist with repair work to major components by working with vendors and tracking progress
  • Participate in daily site operation calls and work with field personnel to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manor
  • Lead pilot projects to evaluate new equipment, tools, or processes
  • Analyze parts usage, work order histories, and other operational data
  • Support the start-up of operations at new wind farms
  • Support the end-of-warranty inspection process at wind farms
  • Some travel (< 25%) and moderate field work may be required

Required Skills

  • B.S. in an engineering discipline, M.S. preferred
  • Zero to three years’ work experience
  • Strong interest and understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and able to quickly acclimate to new software
  • Experience with wind turbines, equipment reliability, or work management programs is a plus
