Brief Role Description

The Commercial Account Manager is responsible for the success, growth, and development of existing commercial customers across the utility, automotive and fleet segments. Liaising closely with internal teams, this person will convey information succinctly to internal and external parties, ensure understanding, and maintain customer satisfaction from onboarding through project implementation and ongoing operations.

In alignment with Commercial and Product Development colleagues, the Commercial Account Manager will maintain expert –level technical product knowledge of existing and forthcoming products and services. In this capacity, the role will seek to expand scope and opportunities at the same time as ensuring client satisfaction and delivery accuracy. The role will be responsible for monitoring client’s budget, explaining costs, managing contract renewal and addressing new terms as necessary. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing client opportunities with a specific emphasis on energy and green technology related products and services.

Possible Tasks within this Role

Main responsibility – assign 50% of time spent

Own the growth and expansion of existing accounts by identifying, advancing, and closing new business opportunities, including new sites, upgrades, and expanded service offerings.
Lead proactive discovery conversations to uncover new opportunities within existing accounts and expand scope and potential service offerings.
Monitor client’s budget, explain costs, manage contract renewal and negotiate new terms if necessary.
Explain and discuss the financial performance of customer programs, including drivers of revenue, cost, utilization, and return on investment, to support informed customer decision-making.
Establish and maintain trusted, close working relationships with clients, including decision-makers, C-Level Executives, and project managers, by serving as the primary point of contact and a knowledgeable, reliable advisor on Electrify Commercial’s products and services.
Be the voice and champion of the customer. Uncover client business initiatives and pain points to drive internal product and sales teams to map and implement solutions.

Additional responsibilities – assign 30% of time

Act as technical liaison between clients and Commercial, Marketing, Product and Operations departments to create continuous feedback loops to ensure timely and accurate project implementation and delivery.
Anticipate client confusion, delays and concerns and alleviate through effective communication and expert understanding of how Electrify America products can grow their business. In doing so, set the vision for their electrification investment.
Provide expert-level knowledge of existing and forthcoming features and functionality to ensure client understanding and awareness of products and services opportunities.

Additional responsibilities – assign 20% of time

Prepare accurate and thorough sales activity reports, forecasts and financial tracking.
Work with onboarding manager to verify client understanding and training necessary for product implementation.

Qualification requirements

Years Of Relevant Experience

7 years of relevant experience in utilities, automotive or infrastructure relationship management
3-5 years of business development, sales or sales strategy

Education – Required

Bachelor’s Degree

Education – Desired

MBA or Master’s Degree

Skills – Required

Ability to creatively think outside the box, and lead and execute effectively and independently
Experience working on long and short-term strategic planning
Experience managing technical clients
Demonstrated experience in negotiating and securing contracts
Demonstrated high initiative and ability to create successful business plans in a complex partnership environment
Experience cultivating and developing pipeline of sales opportunities
Ability to take initiative and function in highly dynamic environment
Excellent project management, innovation, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills

Skills – Desired

Professional CRM experience in automotive, utilities, or technology
Knowledge of automotive or utility sales, service and marketing environment
Understanding of the Salesforce product suite
Enthusiasm for an electric future
Experience using project management software like Trello, JIRA and Confluence
Experience in electric vehicle infrastructure industry
Understanding of EV Charging ecosystem (manufacturers, installation companies, utilities and related government agencies)

Work Flexibility

Domestic travel is required; estimated at 40-60%

Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, industry-based experience, skills, training, credentials, and other qualifications.

In the state of California, the salary range is $92,500 – $211,750.

In the state of Colorado, the salary range is $92,500 – $162,850.

In the state of Washington, the salary range is $92,500 – $177,600.

In New York City, the salary range is $132,400 – $211,750.

In Westchester County, the salary range is $111,000 – $177,600.

In the state of Rhode Island, the salary range is $92,500 – $162,850.
