Position Overview
Electra is seeking a Data Platforms & Applications Engineer to support the design, build, and operation of Electra’s core data and digital platforms. This role spans data integration, application development, analytics, and user‑facing tooling, partnering closely with engineering, operations, and leadership in a fast‑moving environment.
As Electra’s digital ecosystem expands, this role will play a critical part in scaling data workflows, building internal tools, supporting analytics use cases, and contributing to early AI/ML‑enabled capabilities. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, comfortable moving between backend systems and user interactions, and able to translate operational needs into robust technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations across operational systems Develop custom front-end applications on top of core data platforms
Support analytics, reporting, and decision‑support use cases
Collaborate directly with users to translate operational needs into technical solutions
Ensure technical decisions reflect real user workflows and constraints
Contribute to early AI/ML‑enabled capabilities where appropriate
Ability to competently navigate across backend, frontend, data storage, cloud infrastructure, and emerging AI/ML tooling as needed.
Required Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or a related discipline
1+ years of Software/Data Engineering experience
Demonstrated core proficiency in Python (backend, data pipelines, ML) and/or TypeScript (JavaScript)
Required Skills
Solid understanding of:
Data structures and storage systems
Cloud infrastructure
Application development (frontend)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with evolving requirements
Strong collaboration skills across technical and non‑technical teams
Desired Qualifications
Familiarization with front-end geospatial and data visualization libraries, such as React, Leaflet, D3.
Experience or strong interest in logistics, supply chain, sustainment, aviation, and/or readiness analysis
Experience building or experimenting with LLM‑based applications
Familiarity with large‑scale data systems and analytics
Prior exposure to production systems supporting operational users
Experience in SQL, Go, or Rust

Headquarters in Manassas, VA. To encourage close collaboration, this position is strongly preferred to be on‑site.
Travel < 25% Salary Electra's salary range for this position is: $100,000.00- $120,000.00. Our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum range for the Company level overall across all locations & projects and does not necessarily reflect the budgeted amount for this position. Individual pay is based on additional factors, including project budgets, job-related skills, experience, relevant education and/or training, role, level, location, and project.
