The Corporate Development Associate will support and lead key financial and strategic initiatives by building financial models, evaluating capital allocation opportunities, building investor and board presentations, supporting capital markets activities, and contributing to M&A and long-term planning efforts. This role will be instrumental in advancing our corporate priorities, including financial modeling, strategic finance initiatives, capital formation, and M&A evaluation, while playing a visible role in cross-functional decision-making at the company’s highest levels. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the next phase of Fervo’s growth by building the analytical backbone that powers our long-term strategy. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial modeling skills, comfort in creating high-impact presentations, deep intellectual curiosity about the clean energy landscape, and the agility to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Corporate Development.
Responsibilities
Capital Formation & Financial Strategy
Support equity and debt capital markets activity through financial modeling, diligence, and coordination with banks, investors, and internal teams
Build & maintain financial models to evaluate transactions, inform capital strategy, and support long-range planning
Track market activity, financing trends, and developments relevant to clean energy & infrastructure
Investor Relations & Strategic Communications
Develop investor relations materials, public company reporting, and executive-level presentations
Prepare clear, compelling materials for the Board, executive team, and external stakeholders
Translate financial analysis and market insights into actionable recommendations for leadership
Planning & Market Analysis
Analyze market trends, policy developments, and competitive dynamics to inform strategic direction
Collaborate cross-functionally to assess commercial opportunities and develop data-driven business cases
Support forecasting, strategic planning, and broader corporate finance initiatives
M&A & Strategic Transactions
Support M&A and partnership evaluation through deal screening, financial analysis, and stakeholder coordination
Build transaction models to evaluate acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic investments
Assist with diligence processes and transaction execution activities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, engineering, business, or a related field
3–5 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, corporate development, or a related area
Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with demonstrated experience in financial modeling & valuation
Solid understanding of financial statements and corporate finance principles
Familiarity with AI tools/emerging technologies to enhance research, analysis, and workflow efficiency
Excellent verbal & written communication skills; able to present complex analysis clearly to senior audiences
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines
Intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in capital markets
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on energy or infrastructure transactions
Familiarity with capital markets, M&A processes, or energy policy
Advanced degree (MBA or JD) or CFA/CPA certification
Location
Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX. This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at the Houston location will be required.
