Job Summary:

VEIC is seeking a student currently enrolled at a higher education institution for a part-time, remote, summer internship supporting the Efficiency Smart brand. The position is for 20 hours per week, for 10-12 weeks, flexible around the student’s academic calendar. Working hours are flexible during normal business hours (between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST, Monday to Friday).

The Marketing and Communications Intern will support the development and execution of Efficiency Smart projects. This includes developing social media content, blog posts, and newsletter articles. This position will work closely with Efficiency Smart’s marketing team to ensure a consistent brand is supported through all content.

Location:

This is a remote position, and the ideal candidate will be located in Ohio, Delaware, Michigan, Pennsylvania.

Essential Functions:

Develop content for social media channels
Write content for blog and newsletters
Provide proofreading assistance
Work closely with the marketing team to support other projects as needed
Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Experience:

Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals, and values of VEIC
Currently enrolled at a higher education institution, majoring in marketing, communications, English, or an applicable area of study
A strong understanding and experience with social media networks, with a strong preference for Instagram and Facebook
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Experience with photo editing software such as Canva, Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator is preferred.
Strong work ethic, dependable, detail-oriented, well organized, and able to prioritize competing priorities and deadlines
Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate clearly and succinctly
Self-starter, ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be willing to help other team members when appropriate

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Internal – Work is normally performed in climate-controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.). No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of job duties.
External – No travel is required

Physical Demands:

Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most duties are performed from a seated position. There is potential for eyestrain from reading detailed materials and computer screen. Deadlines, workloads during peak periods and changing priorities may cause increased stress levels. Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing of approximately 40 pounds such as files, documents, and some equipment. Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboards at a moderate skill level. Repetitive motion injuries may occur. Company will provide adaptive devices as needed.
