Position Summary:

The MRO Buyer is responsible for procuring the maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) materials and services that support MN8’s field operations and asset performance. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Asset Management, Warehouse, and Finance teams to ensure critical spare parts, equipment, consumables, and services are sourced efficiently, delivered on time, and managed cost effectively.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career procurement professional seeking hands-on ownership of supplier relationships, purchasing activities, inventory support, and sourcing initiatives while contributing directly to operational reliability and business performance.

As the MRO Buyer, you will:

Procurement & Purchase Order Management:

– Purchase MRO materials, spare parts, tooling, consumables, equipment, and services in support of field operations.
– Review and process purchase requisitions; create, issue, and maintain purchase orders with accurate pricing, quantities, delivery dates, freight terms, and project/account coding.
– Expedite open orders and communicate lead times, availability, and order status to stakeholders.
– Support emergency and breakdown purchases to minimize operational downtime.
– Resolve receiving, quantity, pricing, quality, and invoice discrepancies in partnership with Receiving, Warehouse, and Finance teams.

Supplier Management & Strategic Sourcing:

– Solicit and evaluate supplier quotations based on cost, quality, lead time, service, and overall value.
– Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, warranties, and commercial agreements within assigned spend categories.
– Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned suppliers.
– Support supplier onboarding, performance management, and corrective action initiatives.
– Identify cost-reduction opportunities through supplier consolidation, alternative sourcing strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Inventory & Operational Support:

– Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Asset Management to clarify technical requirements and develop sourcing specifications.
– Monitor MRO inventory levels and support inventory optimization strategies, including min/max settings, reorder points, and critical spare parts planning.
– Assist in maintaining continuity of operations by proactively addressing potential material shortages.
– Support inventory control and critical spares programs to improve asset reliability and availability.

Data, Reporting & Compliance:

– Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, and material master data within enterprise systems.
– Generate reports and analyze spend trends, supplier performance, inventory consumption, and open purchase orders.
– Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, approval authorities, safety requirements, and quality standards.
– Support procurement process improvements and standardization initiatives.

Our ideal candidate will have:

– Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management preferred; or bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, industrial engineering, or a related discipline; or bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical field coupled with a minimum of two (2) years of purchasing or procurement experience.
– Two (2) to four (4) years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, inventory planning, or related experience, preferably within an industrial, manufacturing, energy, or operations environment.
– Working knowledge of the procure-to-pay process, including requisitions, purchase orders, receiving, expediting, and invoice reconciliation.
– Experience working within ERP, MRP, or procurement systems such as Salesforce, Oracle, SAP, or equivalent platforms.
– Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
– Ability to review technical specifications, drawings, part numbers, and vendor documentation.
– Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
