Project Specialist – Energy Storage Systems

The Position: This role in the Energy Storage System Project Management group serves as a critical liaison between HQ product lines, ESS Project Management, Operations, and Commissioning Managers during project execution. This position combines hands-on project coordination with crossfunctional leadership, process improvement, and team development responsibilities. The Project Specialist acts as a force multiplier for the project management team, driving operational excellence while managing assigned projects independently under senior leadership oversight. Additional responsibilities include reporting project stages and status, monitoring key performance indicators, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and driving continuous improvement initiatives for transportation, logistics, and storage phases to enhance delivery times. The role will evolve with business needs, collaborating closely with various teams to manage project execution risks, updating and distributing reports in AirTable (or other designated CM tools), and driving data-driven decision making. As our system evolves and matures, the position responsibilities will evolve and change to meet our business needs. This position reports to the Director of Project Management within the ESS Business group.
Position Summary Project Management & Coordination: Support senior Project Managers with daily activities, milestone tracking, and organizational preparation for complex projects Utilize Sungrow tools for tracking project order and internal/external milestone status Facilitate proactive project management through timely communication with internal and external partners regarding scheduling, expediting, financial order management, change orders, submittals, RFIs, and project milestones Provide early warnings of delivery delays and collaborate with HQ on mitigation plans Advocate for customers by escalating urgent issues to management and providing support on complex contracts
Cross-Functional Leadership & Communication: Cultivate and maintain relationships with HQ, Project Managers, and Operations for ESS business, facilitating communication on project deployment needs—may occasionally be required during China business hours Organize and facilitate large team meetings and cross-functional sessions, ensuring alignment between team initiatives and broader organizational priorities Lead cross-departmental collaboration efforts to streamline project execution and resolve bottlenecks Serve as a communication hub between project teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent information flow
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence: Demonstrate expertise in project coordination activities: document management, meeting agendas and note taking, reporting matrices, data management, operational improvement, and deliverables tracking Proactively identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency for the project management team and other departments Collaborate with operations to evaluate project execution flow and identify areas for improvement in project execution processes Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enable clear and actionable data-driven decisions Develop and maintain standardized tools, templates, and processes to improve team effectiveness Team
Development & Knowledge Management: Take ownership of onboarding new team members, ensuring they understand Sungrow’s unique processes, tools, and culture Facilitate knowledge transfer across the team to build organizational capability Mentor junior team members on project coordination and management best practices Contribute to team cohesion and development, particularly in a rapidly growing organization Additional Responsibilities: Willingly assume responsibilities outside core skillset to support team success and business needs Perform additional duties as directed by the Director of Project Management
Required Qualifications Prior experience in project coordination or project management Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously Strong organizational and communication skills Proficiency with project management tools and data management systems Proven track record of process improvement and operational excellence Ability to work independently and take initiative Experience facilitating cross-functional collaboration Adaptability and willingness to evolve with changing business needs
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in energy storage systems or related industry Background in managing projects from initiation through completion Experience onboarding and mentoring team members Familiarity with Sungrow tools and processes Ability to work across time zones when needed

Minimum Requirements: • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in Project management coordination/service business • Minimum two (2) years’ logistics and planning • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, etc. • Demonstrate basic understanding of logistical costs involving overseas transport and US port selection and inland logistics decisions
Education or Desired License and Certificates: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business a plus • Previous supply chain experience a plus • Previous shipping and logistics experience a plus • Mandarin fluency a plus Competencies: • Technical problem solving/analytical skills • Excellent communication and customer interfacing skills • Self-motivated, team player, nimble and a quick learner Past experiences in project management coordination a strong plus.
Travel: 10 – 20%
