The Environmental & Sustainability (ESG) Specialist supports the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the company’s Environmental Management System (EMS) in alignment with ISO 14001, while sustaining the corporate ESG strategy, metrics, and reporting. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders to ensure environmental compliance, data integrity, and sustainability performance across the organization.

The ideal candidate is systems-minded, data-driven, and experienced in corporate sustainability programs within regulated or industrial environments.

Environmental & Sustainability Specialist Responsibilities:
ISO 14001 & Environmental Management System (EMS)
Support the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the ISO 14001-aligned Environmental Management System.
Assist with identification and evaluation of environmental aspects and impacts.
Maintain EMS documentation, procedures, records, and change management processes.
Support internal EMS audits, management reviews, and corrective/preventive actions.
Track environmental objectives, targets, and performance indicators.
Support ISO 14001 certification and surveillance audits, including coordination with third-party auditors.
Corporate ESG & Sustainability
Support execution of corporate ESG strategy, goals, and key performance indicators.
Collect, validate, and analyze environmental and sustainability data (e.g., GHG emissions, energy use, waste).
Contribute to ESG disclosures, reporting and audits.
Support Scope 1, 2, and selected Scope 3 emissions tracking and reduction initiatives.
Assist with lifecycle thinking, environmental risk assessments, and sustainability initiatives across corporate functions.
Support development of sustainability dashboards and internal performance reporting.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
Monitor compliance with applicable environmental regulations and corporate standards.
Support environmental risk assessments and mitigation planning.
Assist in tracking regulatory changes impacting ESG and environmental obligations.
Support internal controls related to environmental data accuracy and reporting integrity.
Assist with environmental incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Engagement
Partner with operations, procurement, supply chain, legal, finance, HR, and communications teams to embed ESG and EMS requirements.
Support supplier sustainability and environmental performance initiatives.
Assist with internal training and awareness related to ISO 14001, environmental responsibilities, and ESG goals.
Contribute to stakeholder engagement and sustainability communications.
Environmental & Sustainability Specialist Qualification/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
3–6 years of experience in corporate environmental management, sustainability, ESG, or EHS roles.
Hands-on experience supporting or maintaining an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
Knowledge of U.S. and international environmental regulations and corporate compliance frameworks.
Experience collecting and managing sustainability and ESG data.
Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management tools.
Experience in renewable energy, energy manufacturing, utilities, or industrial environments.
Experience supporting ESG reporting frameworks.
Familiarity with GHG accounting methodologies (GHG Protocol).
Experience with environmental auditing or internal controls.
Professional certifications such as ISO 14001 Internal Auditor, ENV SP, CEP, CHMM, or similar.
Experience with ESG or sustainability software platforms.
