PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Renewable Northwest, the Northwest’s preeminent renewable energy advocacy organization,
seeks a summer intern. The majority of time will be spent conducting research on the economic
impacts of renewable energy projects in all four states in which we operate – Oregon, Washington,
Montana and Idaho. This work will support development of fact sheets used for advocacy work to
build support for policies aimed at increasing investments in renewable energy. Components of
the work will include:
• Review of existing literature, previous Renewable Northwest studies and fact sheets on
economic impacts.

• Coordination with state and local agencies in each state to gather data related to property
tax revenue, employment data, and other economic data.
• Coordination with Renewable Northwest membership organizations to learn about
project costs.
• Collection and organization of data on renewable energy projects in operation and those in
development.
• Participation in Renewable Northwest staff meetings and member update calls.
In addition to the primary project, the intern will assist with a stakeholder mapping process. This
work will involve learning about organizations and people relevant to Renewable Northwest’s
work, joining introductory calls, gathering contact info and making this information accessible to
staff. As a result of work on both projects, interns will get broad exposure to the policy and
regulatory work of the organization and will gain real-world experience on renewable energy
issues in the Northwest.

QUALIFICATIONS
● Candidates should have excellent research and writing skills.
● Strong experience working with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and
PowerPoint) and Google Docs.

COMPENSATION
This is a paid,temporary position at $20/hour.
The length of the internship will vary depending upon school schedules, but is not expected to
extend beyond 12 weeks. The summer intern position can be remote or hybrid, however the
employee must be based in the Pacific Northwest.
